Jay’s Guarantees

A number of years ago I worked in an orphan’s home in Los Angeles.   It was one of the best experiences I had as a young man.    The home was secular, cialis buy remedy but by the sovereignty of God, the staff was almost entirely Christian.    We all had the freedom to share our faith with the children of this home, and as a result a majority came to know Christ as their Savior.

One of those boys I led to the Lord came from a particularly tough background.    Jay grew up in a home where his mother was a prostitute and he shared living quarters with 10 other brothers and sisters.    Social Services actually found him living in a garbage can when they surveyed the conditions of the home.   They quickly removed him from his mother, along with the other children, and placed him in our home.

I had hardly been at the orphan’s home a month before I shared with Jay the love Christ had for him, and Christ’s promise to never leave him or forsake him.    He immediately received Christ, for such love overwhelmed him (John 4).    Jay continued to struggle over the years, but I could always see the presence of Christ in him.    I wish I knew where Jay was today, but if I never locate him while here on earth, I know that Jay Tandy has unfailing parents now (The Father, Son, and Spirit), and a Grand Canyon of subsequent guarantees and forever promises.  Here are just a few of those guarantees and promises he has been able to apply to his life these last 34 years.   Yes, that is right, Jay, is now 44 years old; he received Christ when he was 10 years old.

He is justified and is at peace with God.

Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

He is free forever from condemnation.

Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

He has been given the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:16   For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.

He has been made righteous.

2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

He is adopted as God’s son.

Ephesians 5:1   He predestined us to adoption, as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will.

He is alive together with Christ.

Ephesians 2:4-5 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we      were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).

He will be raised up and seated with Christ in heaven.

Eph. 2: 6 and (you were) raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

He has direct access to God through the Spirit.

Ephesians 2:18   for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

He has within him Christ Himself.

Colossians 1:27   to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

He has been firmly rooted in Christ

and is currently being built up in Him.

Colossians 2:6-7   6 Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 having been firmly rooted      and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.

He has been given a spirit of power, love and self-discipline.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

He has the right to come boldly before the throne of God

to find mercy and grace in the time of need.

Hebrews 4:16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

He will never be forsaken.

Hebrews 13:5  … He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.”

He will never lose his salvation.

John 10:27-28    27  “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.

He has been given spiritual gifts that are unique to his calling

I Corinthians 12: 4-6   4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. 6 There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons.

He is regarded by God on the level of a priest.

I Peter 2:9   But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

He is constantly on the mind of God.

The great thoughts God has for him are too many to count.

Psalm 139:17-18     17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.

Teachable Moment

In this teachable moment share with your family the incredible bottomless love and promises God has for them when they receive Christ as Lord.   Pick a place that appears bottomless and endless.   If you live near an ocean this will certainly suffice.   For our family the Grand Canyon served us well during our years in Arizona.  Ask your children to estimate how many grains of sand could fill the expanse.  Of course the sand would be impossible to count, and so it is with God’s immeasurable love and bottomless promises to us as His children (Psalm 139:17-18).   Jay

God’s Word

John 4: 7 There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.”  9 Therefore the Samaritan woman said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) 10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” 11 She said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water? 13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, so I will not be thirsty nor come all the way here to draw.”  25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.” 26          Jesus   said to her, “I who speak to you am He.” 28 So the woman left her water pot, and went into the city and said to the men, 29  “Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is it?” 39    From that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all the things that I have done.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. 41 Many more believed because of His word; 42 and they were saying to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.”

Psalm 139:17-18     17   How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! 18   If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.
