Golden Compass

Starring Nicole Kidman

There will be a new movie released in December (2007), viagra sale search a seemingly innocent fantasy movie adapted for children, viagra canada diagnosis called THE GOLDEN COMPASS.  I recommend that you stay away from this film, and definitely not take your kids to see it.  THE GOLDEN COMPASS is based on a trilogy by Phillip Pullman’s called His Dark Materials.

From what I have read and studied, which comes from the following web site,, Phillip Pullman is a vowed atheist who is purposed to bash Christianity and promote his own unbelief in God.  According to the research gathered on this website, he wants to kill God in the minds of children, which is what his trilogy is generally about.

In other comments I read, Pullman also has little regard for C.S. Lewis and His Chronicles of Narnia.  In fact, THE GOLDEN COMPASS movie may be an attempt to combat the spiritual themes Lewis presented in his book, THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE, which was made into a movie a few years ago.

If The GOLDEN COMPASS makes it, and I sincerely hope it doesn’t, then there are two other sequels that may follow.   They would be based on Pullman’s second and third books of his trilogy.   The Trilogy begins with His Dark Materials, then moves to The Subtle Knife and ends with The Amber Spyglass.  Each book as I have learned from others who have read them (I have not) gets progressively worse regarding Pullman’s hatred of God.

Teachable Moments

Avoid seeing this movie with your children.  Don’t support it!   Instead, rent or buy C.S Lewis’ movie,  The LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBEand see it.  Then take your children to see the second story in C.S. Lewis’ Narnia trilogy, PRINCE CASPIAN, which I believe comes out in early 2008.  Another good movie coming out at Christmas is called Midnight Clear starring Stephen Baldwin.   It is a story written by Jerry Jenkins the co-author of the Left Behind Book Series.

May God guide you in all the decisions you make for your children and yourselves.   I leave you with some other Scriptures I often look to in my daily devotions.  May they bring you the same wisdom, strength, and hope they have brought me.

God speed,  Kent

Lamentations 3:22-33  22  The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His

compassions never fail.  23  They are new every morning;  Great is Your faithfulness.

24  “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,  “Therefore I have hope in Him.”

25 The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,  To the person who seeks Him.

26 It is good that he waits silently For the salvation of the Lord.  27 It is good for a man

that he should bear The yoke in his youth.  28 Let him sit alone and be silent Since He

has laid it on him.  29 Let him put his mouth in the dust,  Perhaps there is hope.

30 Let him give his cheek to the smiter,  Let him be filled with reproach. 31 For the Lord

will not reject forever,  32 For if He causes grief,  Then He will have compassion

According to His abundant lovingkindness.   33 For He does not afflict willingly

Or grieve the sons of men.

2 Cor. 4:  7-10, 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the

surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves;  8 we are

afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing;  9 persecuted, but

not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;  10 always carrying about in the body the

dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

2 Tim. 2:11 &13   11 For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him; 13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
