Reputation is what men think you are; character is what God’ knows you are. So who are you, ask really? This year, prescription perhaps your character needs to match your reputation. Unless that is, your reputation is not what it should be. If not then ask God to help you change it. He will!
I love you mom [Kent McClain]
“I love you mom,” said little John; then forgetting the work he said he’d get done, went out and played instead with all of his friends. “I love you mom,” said little Sarah, I love you better than tongue can say, but teased her brothers and sisters, and pouted half the day. Her mom was thrilled when she left the house and went down the block to play. “I love you mom,” said little Susie, “Today I’ll help you all I can.” Then to the cradle she went to rock the baby till it fell asleep. Then without hesitation or prodding she stepped softly and vacuumed all of the carpets throughout the house. Busy and happy all day was she; helpful and cheerful was Susie. Then at the end of the day when all were ready for bed each of the children said once again, “I love you mom,” and went to sleep. Which one of these children do you think loved their mom the most that day? And if this mother was analogous to God, and you were analogous to one of these children, which child would have been today? Which one will you be tomorrow, and the day after? “I love you Lord” Really?
Respected and mature leaders in the church accept the blame when things don’t go well, and share the credit when they do. The self-serving and immature on the other hand always accuse and excuse. [k]
With God as your confidence and at your side, you can go out in the world and work like money doesn’t matter, sing as if no one is listening, love as if you have never been hurt, and dance as if no one is watching. [k]
Be assured that if God waits longer than we can possibly endure, it is only to make the coming blessing more precious. He will not delay one hour or minute too long to do so. [kent]
A man or woman’s greatness before God is not determined by his or her accomplishments, gifts, or abilities, but by what it takes to discourage them.
Christ wants us to have a child’s heart and a grown- ups head C.S. Lewi
When God buries our sins in the deepest sea, He posts a sign that reads, “No Fishing!’
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has God removed our transgressions from us.” [Psalm 103:12] So confess them, all of them, and let Him do the rest.
The present tough circumstance which presses so hard against you is the best tool in God’s hand to chisel you for eternity. [?}
In regard to some of the things in your past that were neither honoring to God nor helpful to others, pray this: make my past mistakes a guidepost, not a hitching post. [kent]
Some Christians say that in life, God is their co-pilot. If that is the case with you then please get rid of the thought. There is nothing really good or lasting that can happen in your life when you are at the controls. Therefore if God is your co-pilot, then please, I beg you, swap seats as soon as possible
If you are trusting God, and believing in His promises, then you should be like a kite, rising higher when the winds of trial hit. So if this is not the case with you, then you know what to do. Go to His Word and pick up a few of His promises and start believing. Here are a few, there are 7,000 more: “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” [Hebrews 13:5] “Seek and you shall find.” [Matthew 7:7] “I am with you always.” [Matthew 28:20] “For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11. [k]
This is the day the Lord has made for you, so focus your thoughts and prayers on what He can do with it. Yesterday is gone and cannot be retrieved. The events of tomorrow may or may not happen. Today is all that counts, so don’t waste it, remember you have just so many days on earth and then you’re gone. As the Scripture teachers, “And in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.” Psalm 139:16 (Kent)
Realistic expectations for prospective teachers?
After being interviewed by the school administration, a prospective teacher said: ‘Let me see if I’ve got this right. ‘You want me to go into that room with all those kids, correct their disruptive behaviour, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, censor their T-shirt messages, and instil in them a love for learning. ‘You want me to check their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, and raise their sense of self-esteem and personal pride. ‘You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, and how to register to vote, balance a check book, and apply for a job. ‘You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial behaviour, and make sure that they all pass the final exams.’ You also want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of their handicaps, and communicate regularly with their parents in English, Spanish, and every other language, by letter, telephone, newsletter, and report card.’ You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a bulletin board, a few books, a big smile, and a starting salary that qualifies me for food stamps.’ You want me to do all this and then you tell me I Can’t Pray! [This was sent to me by a friend on the internet. Its pretty close to what’s out there these days in the public schools. I am just glad I was able to teach in a Christian school for many years, where I didn’t have to experience this.
According to the Scriptures, no one is too bad to be forgiven. The only bad thing that’s unforgivable is not to repent and ask for it.
