“..Seek and you will find..and he who seeks finds..”
This Teachable Moment on how to seek and find God’s will is based on Cowan’s devotional, discount viagra drugstore Springs in the Valley, remedy January 18th. I pray this nautical story and succeeding thoughts can be of some help to you as you get ready to face a new year.
When Dr. F.B. Meyer, a renowned Christian leader and author of the 19th Century, was crossing the Irish Channel one dark starless night, he stood on the deck of his ship and wondered how his final destination could be reached on such an evening. In his anxious curiosity he asked the captain, “How do you know where the harbor is on so dark a night as this?” The captain responded, “You see those three lights? Those three must line up behind each other as one, and when we see them so united we know the exact position of the harbor’s mouth.”
When you want to know God’s will there are also three things which should concur: the inward impulse, the collaboration of Scriptures, and the trend of circumstances! The inward impulse is God’s Spirit at work in your heart, impelling you to go this direction or that. The collaboration of Scriptures is God aligning His truth as presented in the Bible with what he wants you to do. Remember, He would never want you to do anything that does not agree with the teachings of His Word. And finally, the trend of circumstances is God working together all the necessary events at the right time for you to move ahead with what He has put on your heart to do.
A note of caution via my own personal experience, never move in any direction if possible until all three of these things agree. Patiently stand still at this cross-road until then, ready to walk or run when these three things align themselves with one another, like the three lights in the harbor that needed to become one as the captain explained.
If you seek God’s will in this way, I believe you will be less frustrated or fearful, and free from making big errors in your decision making.
“Therefore if earthly parents know how to give good gifts to their children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!”
