The Palm Tree

The faithful will flourish like the Palm tree

Psalm 92:12

How meaningless the above Psalmist statement (Psalm 92) seems unless you are acquainted with the growth of a palm tree. People who live in tropical and semi-tropical regions of the world certainly know of its development and how it is so different from other trees. Aside from the fruit it produces and its tall and singular beauty, buy viagra sovaldi the palm tree collects and utilizes moisture like no other tree.   For instance, cialis when drawing moisture from its roots, viagra the palm tree does not pull up its moisture between the bark and the wood to feed its branches, produce, and leaves. Most other trees do, the palm tree does not. The palm tree rather transports its moisture (sap) through the very center of its trunk, core, and frame, through its heart so to speak.

Therefore unlike most trees the palm cannot be destroyed by simply injuring, cutting, or even severing the bark on the outside of its frame. In order to kill a palm tree, its center must be cut into, which only happens when a palm tree is felled, when its life is finally determined to be ended.

Thus it is with those of us who have put our trust in Christ, for like the palm tree we cannot be felled by any or many cuts, chops, and blows that come to our lives, because the steady stream of moisture we need to survive cannot be thwarted.

What is the moisture that can travel unabated through our center each day, unless that is we decide to block it for whatever reason? It is God’s unconditional love, His unceasing forgiveness, His unfathomable understanding, His guidance, and His power to change things in our lives when things need changing.

And when our lives are over, when God has called us home to be with Him forever, then we will be felled, but at the right time and by Him and none other.

So, Christian, don’t be overly concerned about being cut on the bark areas of your life, just rest in the fact that your center remains intact, full of God’s moisture, for Christ is always there to make this so.

Teachable Moment

The next time you see a palm tree, think of your center which cannot really be touched by the world, because it is protected by the Christ you received when you believed in Him.

Moisture to Collect

For you will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends your roots by a stream. And you will not fear when the heat comes; but your leaves will be green, and you will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit. Jeremiah 17:8

For the Lord said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,” so that we confidently say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?” Hebrews 13:5-6

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:28-31

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9
