Matthew 16:2-23 “And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him saying, ‘God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to you,’ but he turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind me Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”
You all have probably played checkers. Checkers is played with two players. Each player sets up his checkers on the first three rows of black squares on the opposite sides of the board. The object of the game is the capture all of your opponent’s checkers and to get your checkers to the other side of the board to be kinged.
The Spiritual lesson is that god is the player with the red checkers which are his followers. Satan is the player with the black checkers which are his helpers. When a Christian “captures” a non-believer, it is like bringing the non-believers to God. God moves us to make non-believers believe. Satan moves his helpers so they can try and stop you.
